2016 Audi Q5 to premiere in H2 2016 - Rendering

Will go on sale in late-2016.

The first generation Audi Q5 will be eight years old next year and reports say that the all-new model will debut in H2 2016, and go on sale towards the end of the year. Two new renderings from Auto Bild preview the next-gen model in near-production guise, save for the fancy grille. The all-new models won't be see a radical redesign, the German publication says in its report.

The range-topping 2016 Audi Q5 will sport a (petrol/diesel depending on market) V6 engine.

The 2016 Audi Q5 will be based on the Volkswagen Group's MLB Evo platform that also underpins the 2016 Audi A4 and the second-gen 2015 Audi Q7. The all-new model will be around 100 kg lighter, and reports say, be offered with four- and six-cylinder TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engines. The engines are expected to be offered with 6-speed manual, 7-speed S tronic and 8-speed Tiptronic transmission choices.

Noteworthy features of the 2016 Audi Q5 will come in the form of Matrix LED headlights, new singleframe grille, dynamic turn signals, Audi's virtual cockpit and an all-new MMI (Multi Media Interface) infotainment system.

The second-gen 2016 Audi Q5 will be built at the company’s new plant in San Jose Chiapa, Mexico. Markets outside Europe will likely get the all-new Q5 only in 2017. In late-2017, a plug-in hybrid variant will follow, as per the aforementioned report. The plug-in hybrid powertrain will have a total output of 252 PS. The all-electric range should be around 70 km.
