All-new petrol engine expected to debut on the Kite hatchback.
Tata Motors have dropped the teaser sketch of the Tata Kite hatchback (codename), which, as reported earlier, will be revealed to the media in the first week of December. Prior to the sketch, the Kite hatchback was teased in a video starring Tata Motors' new brand ambassador, Lionel Messi.
With its underpinnings derived from the Tata Indica, the Kite series of cars (a compact sedan will follow the hatchback, sometime in early-2016) are Tata's next range of 'all-new' products aimed at the private car buyer. They effectively replace the Indica and the Indigo eCS in the private segment, though sales of these models for fleet customers/taxi customers are expected to continue.
According to reports, the Kite hatchback and compact sedan, which are codenamed 'Kite 4' and 'Kite 5' respectively, will be powered by three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The former is expected to be an all-new engine displacing 1.2-liters, and could be badged under the 'Revotron' brand, despite not featuring a turbocharger.

The 1.05-liter three-cylinder diesel engine on the other hand would be a scaled down version of Tata's 1,405 cc four-cylinder diesel engine, with several friction reducing technologies.
