Based on a re-engineered version of the Indica’s X0 platform.
IAB understands that one of the Tata Kite variants (of sedan and hatchback) will be revealed to the Indian media in the first week December 2015. This falls in-line with reports stating that its mass production will commence in Sanand in the same month. Dealers are dispatched vehicles usually within weeks of production commencement.
The Tata Kite (codename) hatchback and sub-compact sedan will ride on a re-engineered version of the outgoing Indica’s platform. As seen in many spyshots and renderings, it gets an all-new exterior design, featuring a mesh grille with chrome appliqués, bug-eyed headlights, large ORVMs, wraparound taillamps, larger windscreen and a subtle roof spoiler.
Inside, it comes with a new center console design housing the same Harman touchscreen system from the Bolt and Zest. Top-end variants will also get automatic climate control, steering mounted controls electrically-adjustable ORVMs and dual front airbags.
Both bodystyles will, reportedly, offer a three-cylinder 1.2-liter unit or a three-cylinder 1.05-liter engine, reportedly. Likely transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT).
