Toyota has finally released the first teaser of the highly anticipated second generation 2016 Toyota Innova, which is rumored to launch in Indonesia on November 23.
The teaser also reveals the front-end of the Innova, which is inline with the final design seen in its leaked brochure. Prospective customers can select between three variants of the Indonesian-spec Innova, which include the entry-level ‘G’, mid variant ‘V’ and top-end ‘Q’. Toyota has equipped the Innova with ABS, EBD and three airbags (dual front+driver knee) as standard across all trim levels.
Powering the new Innova is the latest 2.4-liter GD four-cylinder diesel engine with VNT Intercooler from the new Toyota Hilux, which produces 149 PS at 3,400 rpm. Torque figures vary with the transmission; the 6-speed AT variant produces 36.7 kgm of torque, while the 5-speed manual model delivers 34.9 kgm of torque.
Markets like the Middle East will get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with Dual VVT-i. It produces 139 PS at 5,600 rpm and 18.7 kgm of torque at 4,700 rpm. Both engine variants get an option of a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
As for its Indian launch, it is expected to arrive in 2016, and would be manufactured at the company's plant in Bidadi, Karnataka. TKM will initially produce 90k units per annum, as stated by a report from ET Auto.
