Indonesian website Otomotif Kompas reports that the 2016 Toyota Innova will have its premiere on November 23. The publication cites its sources in the report, and says that the debut could be held in Indonesia.
With the launch of the 2016 Innova, Toyota would have successfully introduced full model changeovers for all its IMV (Innovative International Multipurpose Vehicle) products this year: The new Hilux was launched in May, the new Fortuner in July and finally the Innova next month.
Like the other IMV products, the 2016 Innova will ride on a new ladder-frame chassis which has been redesigned for better safety, overall. Various reports also claim that Toyota will offer ABS and EBD as standard on the MPV, while the top-end variant will get 7 airbags, including one for the driver's knee.
Under the hood, the new Innova will come the brand new 'GD' series diesel engine, which is likely to be a 2.4-liter unit. It will be paired to manual and automatic transmissions, with both gearboxes making their way to India. For select Middle Eastern and Asian markets, Toyota will continue to offer its 2.0-liter and 2.7-liter VVT-i petrol engines.
