Despite making its premiere on July 16, the latest Toyota Fortuner will arrive in India in late-2016, according to Zigwheels. Note that it's already available for sale in markets like Thailand and Australia.
This is inline with reports stating that the new Fortuner will launch during the festive season of 2016. Currently, Toyota is in talks with component suppliers for localization of the Fortuner's assembly at its plant in Bidadi, Karnataka. A report suggested that the company is planning to produce 30,000 units of the new SUV annually, which equates to 2500 units per month.
Toyota Motor Corporation has already allocated funds for Toyota Kirloskar to invest on a new engine plant and assembly of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner, 2016 Toyota Innova, and a mid-size sedan. The new engine plant will build the new GD range of engines, which includes 2.4-liter and 2.8-liter diesel units.
