We had already confirmed that the BR-V will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016. The SUV will also receive the 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine that presently does duty on the Honda City, Honda Jazz, and Honda Amaze. For the petrol engine, however, Honda is springing a surprise, bringing a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine and mating it to a 6-speed manual gearbox for the first time in India. So far, all of Honda's vehicles have only received the standard 5-speed MT box.

In line with the expected demand for the BR-V, Honda Cars India recently announced that it will invest INR 600 crore to boost production in its Tapukara plant. The investment seeks to increase production from the current 1,20,000 units per year to 1,80,000 units. The investment will also see Honda Cars India upgrading its current R&D unit to a full-fledged unit that will aid in product development and design aspects as well.
