BMW India opened its first M Studio this week.
BMW India has announced the launch of the BMW X5M and the BMW X6M performance SUVs for October 15.
The X5M and the X6M will further bolster the brand's M range of performance products in the country. The M range in India includes the M3, M4 and the M5, with the M6 Gran Coupe having only been launched this week in a facelifted avatar. BMW India also opened its first M Studio in the country, located in Mumbai, and plans to open further outlets in Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Pune and Hyderabad.
The X5M and the X6M will be powered by the 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine, which also does duty on the M5 and M6 Gran Coupe. On the SUVs, this engine will produce 575 hp between 6,000-6,500 rpm and 750 Nm of torque between 2,200-5,000 rpm. Paired to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, channelled through all wheels, the X5M and the X6M need only 4.2 seconds to hit 100 km/h. Their top-speeds are electronically limited to 250 km/h.
