Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) will start production of the 2016 Toyota Innova from the second week of November 2015, I. Made Dana Agile, Director of Corporate and External Affairs, TMMIN, revealed at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
TMMIN will be the first to manufacture the all-new, second generation Innova, which is expected to have its global reveal on November 23, in Indonesia. Ahead of its premiere, a brochure leak revealed the exterior and interior design of the 2016 Innova, and key technical specifications.
For the Indonesian market, the 2016 Innova will come in three main variants - G, V and Q. Each of these variants will offer a choice of a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission in conjunction with a 2.0-liter petrol engine or a 2.4-liter diesel engine.
Key for the Indian market is the all-new 2.4-liter GD diesel engine, which will produce 149 PS at 3,400 rpm and 36.7 kgm of torque on the AT variant and 34.9 kgm of torque on the MT variants. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is expected to manufacture this engine at its new plant in Jigani, Karnataka.
Some of the features confirmed on the 2016 Innova include LED projector headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, 7-airbags, ABS, EBD, HAC, VSC, rear parking sensors, automatic climate control, ambient lighting and an 8-inch touchscreen entertainment system.
