Next generation Lancer sedan unlikely.
MMNA (Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc.) has introduced the 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer (facelift) with a slew of updates.
The front fascia of the sedan now receives a new grille and a new bumper with LED daytime running lights, while other exterior changes include revised alloy wheels and two new colors - Diamond White Pearl and Alloy Silver.
Inside, the 2016 Lancer gets a new center console with built-in USB port and new seat fabrics. MMNA have also made changes to the variants, with the base ES trim getting plenty of standard features. Automatic AC, foglights, alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and the FUSE handsfree Link system are now part of the ES trim.
On the SE variant, the 2016 Lancer sports heated front seats, rearview camera and all-wheel control, whereas the SEL gets leather seats, auto-dimming mirror, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers. The top-end GT trim gets 18-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, rear spoiler, larger disc brakes and a sport-tuned suspension. It is also available with a 5-speed manual or a new generation CVT gearbox.
MMNA continues to offer the Lancer with a 2.0-liter I4 DOHC or a 2.4-liter I4 DOHC MIVEC engine. The 2.4-liter variant develops 168 hp and 226 Nm of torque.
