Renault Kwid launches today, to be priced between INR 3-4 lakhs - IAB Report

The Renault Kwid will go on sale in India today, with prices promised in the range of INR 3-4 lakhs, ex-Showroom.

The Kwid will be made at the Chennai plant with a localization of 98 percent.

The Kwid will be available in four variants, though over 60 accessories are planned for the small car. The base, Std variant is devoid of an AC or even power steering, whereas the RxE offers the former. The RxL and the RxT come with both the comfort features, and an optional driver airbag is also available on the RxT.

Power for the Kwid will come from a 799 cc three-cylinder petrol engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Developing 54 PS and 72 Nm of torque, the Kwid delivers a class-leading fuel economy of 25.17 km/l, making it India's most fuel efficient petrol car.

The Kwid rides on the CMF-A platform, which will also underpin the third Datsun car for the Indian market, expected to launch within this financial year. The Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai will manufacture the Kwid with a high 98 percent localization.
