Expected to go on sale in early 2016.
Fiat has dropped the first teaser of their pick-up truck, and have confirmed its name - Fiat Toro. It is expected to go on sale in South America in early-2016, and, according to Fiat, will debut a new segment called the "Sport Utility Pickup" or SUP.
The teaser depicts a cleverly darkened front-end of the Fiat Toro, which is inline with recent spyshots and renders of the model. It's clear that the Fiat Toro will borrow most of its design cues from the Fiat FCC4 Concept, as seen in the sleek pilot lamps, separate headlamps integrated on either side of the large grille, silver skid plate with good angle of departure, and a contoured hood.
Although the interior hasn't been revealed just yet, the Fiat Toro will feature a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, piano black center console and a large MID in the center of the instrument cluster. Higher trims could feature FCA’s 5 inch UConnect infotainment system as standard.
Unlike most pick-ups, the Fiat Toro could be based on a monocoque platform, and pack a 2.0-liter Multijet turbodiesel engine or a 1.8-liter E.torQ flex engine, paired to manual or automatic transmissions. The payload rating is expected to range between 650 kg – 1,000 kg.
