India-made Suzuki Gixxer launched in Peru – Report
Riza Rizvi, Hopelessly in love with everything on four wheels. Interested in cars since my formative years, with an unhealthy affinity for exotics and tuners. Fondness for the open road with high-octane machinery for company!
Is already being exported to other parts of the world.
Suzuki Motorcycles, through its distributor Derco, has launched the India-made Suzuki Gixxer in the Peru. The bike was revealed at the local trade fair ‘Expomoto’. The motorcycle’s debut was in India in January 2014, and it was launched in September 2014.
The Gixxer is powered by the same 155 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, carbureted engine matched to a 5-speed gearbox. This engine makes 14.59 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The suspension is telescopic forks at front and a swing arm mono suspension at the rear. Retardation is provided by a single disc at the front and drum at the rear.
The company says that the bike has been developed by the same engineers who have designed the GSX-R series. The street bike gets a muscular fuel tank, twin exhausts in a single end can, and body colored grab rails. It also gets a fully digital instrument console and LED taillights.
The Gixxer is manufactured in Gurgaon (Haryana) and is already on sale in international markets like Nepal and Bangladesh. Suzuki has not publicized the motorcycle’s prices for the Peruvian market.
