Is based on a new platform.
The Mahindra TUV300 has been teased in a new Facebook upload. The teaser image affirms what is already known. The “battle tank-inspired” boxy design shines through and the rugged SUV is likely to appeal to customers who have taken a liking towards the boxy design of the Hummer or the Toyota FJ Cruiser.
A tell-all spyshot from yesterday showed Mahindra's second sub-4m utility vehicle with a wide grille with square fog lamp enclosures. Other distinctive design details like flat bonnet, large side mirrors, U-shaped wheel arches, and striking shoulder line are also visible.
A new engine called the 'mHawk80' will do duty under the hood, and this 1.5-liter, three-cylinder unit will have superior properties compared to the Quanto. A 5-speed manual is expected to be the transmission of choice, but an AMT option may also be considered for higher variants.

Mahindra will not be offering all-wheel drive at the time of launch, but if the demand exists, this option can be added later on as the new platform on which the TUV300 sits, supports it. Pre-launch bookings, it is reported, will start from September 1.
