The S101 is one of two all-new compact SUVs announced to launch this year.
Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Timothy, snapped these images showing the grille of the Mahindra S101 (codename), which is expected to be launched this year.
As can be seen in these images, the grille of the S101 is typical of a Mahindra product with its six vertical slats highlighted in chrome. A 6-slat chrome grille is also seen on the Mahindra XUV500 and the Mahindra Scorpio, hinting that the car maker wants to pass on its SUV DNA to the small, sub-4 meter offering.
The S101, as reported previously, is based on Mahindra's all-new monocoque, front-wheel drive platform, and will be powered by all-new petrol and diesel engines. According to reports, the car maker will introduce new three-cylinder engines paired to manual and automated manual transmissions (AMT).
Spyshots have shown the S101 to get a bench-type seat up front, and a dashboard-mounted center console and gearlever. The center console sports rotary controls for the HVAC, while a 2-DIN music system is provided between the HVAC vents and the dials.

While the S101 will be positioned in the compact segment, Mahindra is expected to equip it with ABS, dual front airbags and alloy wheels, at least on the top-end variant.
