Second major update for the vehicle since the launch in December 2010.
Mahindra has said that it will launch "the refresh of its popular off-roading vehicle." on July 22.
Earlier this year, the Mahindra Thar facelift was spied road testing in Maharashtra. Images showed that it was going to be the vehicle's second major intervention since its launch in 2010.
Photographs showed the off-road focused SUV sporting a new plastic-metal front bumper, larger foot-rests and fender extensions. A small tilt was observed on the canopy at the rear.
The interior would be updated with a new dual colour layout. Spyshots show the air vents were surrounded with a silver finish, the instrument cluster, akin to the XUV500's, was a three-piece unit encircled with chrome, the seats appeared bigger, and the center console sported a beige cover containing the hand brake, gear lever and transfer case. The steering wheel, gear knob and air-conditioner controls are borrowed from the Bolero's inventory.

The 2015 Mahindra Thar is unlikely to have any mechanical upgrades. The 2.5-litre DI unit that develops 63 hp and 182.5 Nm of torque, and the more modern 2.5-litre CRDe engine that makes 105 hp and 247 Nm of torque, should soldier on. These are matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and come in 2WD (rear wheel drive) and 4WD guises.
