Hyundai Creta gets 15,000 bookings in 20 days – IAB Report

Surpasses initial booking figure of Elite i20.

Hyundai announced today at the Creta’s global launch that it had received over 15,000 bookings for the compact SUV in a short span of 20 days.┬áThe Creta has surpassed the excitement levels of the Elite i20, which raked in about 10,000 bookings within the initial 20 days.

The Creta was launched today in 10 variants spanning petrol and diesel engines.

Over 25 percent of the bookings are for the petrol model, which is powered by the 1.6-liter Dual VTVT engine, matched to a 6-speed manual transmission. More than 15 percent of buyers have opted for the Creta automatic, which is available in a single SX+ trim, priced at INR 13.57 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.

The automatic, which uses a 6-speed torque converter, is paired to the 1.6-liter diesel engine with VGT, and has an ARAI-rated efficiency of 17.01 km/l. The 1.6-liter diesel is also paired to a 6-speed manual transmission and is offered in trims of SX, SX+ and SX (O), with prices ranging from INR 11.59-13.6 lakhs.

A third engine option, a 1.4-liter CRDi paired to a 6-speed manual transmission is also on offer. With prices ranging from INR 9.46 lakhs to INR 11.45 lakhs, this motor develops 90 PS and 220 Nm of torque, and has a fuel efficiency figure of 21.38 km/l.

    Do you have any data on the number of cancellations of bookings owing to the pricing? Just asking. It would be interesting to see that. Creta does promise a lot but it will still be difficult to rule other competition out. The pricing was going to be crucial, S cross also solely depends on the costing factor and since it has been totally imported, we cannot hope for its cost to be on the lower side. On the other hand Ecosport and Duster along with Scorpio have a fair market share, slightly tilted towards duster owing to its new versions.
