A video of the 2016 Mercedes E Class has surfaced online, featuring lower camouflage than before. The exterior design will borrow design cues from the Mercedes S Class and C Class, and will be equipped with features such as Multibeam LED headlamps and LED taillamps.
Older spyshots have revealed that the car has an interior design inline with that of its bigger brother, the S Class. As expected, it will come equipped with the COMAND infotainment system navigated through a Touchpad controller, and a new “Car-to-X” communication system, which allows cars to “talk to each other”. The next generation E-Class will be first mass production vehicle to feature such a technology.
Based on the new MRA RWD platform, the 2016 Mercedes E-Class will offer a new range of four cylinder and in-line six cylinder petrol/diesel engines. It will most likely be paired to the company's newest 9G-TRONIC (9-speed automatic) gearbox that will drive the rear wheels. For some markets, Mercedes will offer an 4MATIC AWD system option as well.
