Expected to debut after the C Class Coupe which is announced for Frankfurt.
Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Satinder Pal Singh, snapped the 2016 Mercedes C Class Convertible in a parking lot in Dubai. Seen along with a camouflaged GLC, these prototypes are likely undergoing hot-weather testing in the regions of the Middle East.
Mercedes has already started teasing the go-faster version of the C Class Coupe, the AMG C63 Coupe, and a debut of the Coupe is confirmed for the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 (IAA 2015) which starts on September 15, 2015. The Convertible could also be revealed later in the year at the LA or Tokyo Motor Show, or in early-2016 at the NAIAS (Detroit Motor Show).
In-line with the Coupe, the C Class Convertible would also get the upright windscreen, the longer and frameless doors, and the trapezoidal exhausts which are seen in these spyshots. Inside, the front seats of the C Class Convertible would be single-piece units with a fixed headrest, and would be mounted 20 mm lower than the sedan, similar to the C Class Coupe.
Early media ride alongs have confirmed that the front seatbelts of the C Class Coupe will automatically move forwards to the shoulder level, making it more convenient for the front passengers to reach out to them.
Coming to the engines, the C Class Coupe and Cabriolet are expected to offer four-cylinder petrol and diesel units paired to a 6-speed manual, or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission or even a 9-speed automatic.
At the moment, Mercedes-Benz India have not announced any plans on bringing either of these models to the country.
