The tenth generation Honda Civic will reportedly launch by the end of 2015 in North America, followed by other important markets in 2016. Ahead of its unveil, the 2016 Honda Civic has been spotted at a gas station in Texas, U.S.A, by Mr. Victor with usual camouflage wrapped over its production-spec exterior.
Not much can be inferred from the new spyshots, apart from the LED boomerang taillamps and a new C-pillar design. Leaked patent sketches of the 2016 Honda Civic revealed a new “Flying H” grille design flanked by optional LED headlamps and an updated lower fascia design.
Older spyshots have indicated that the 2016 Honda Civic will retire the split-dashboard layout for a conventional design. The center console will feature an optional Honda Link touchscreen infotainment display, and a large storage space underneath the HVAC controls.
Honda has confirmed that the 2016 Civic will be powered by the all-new 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo four-cylinder. In another model (Honda Jade RS) that packs the same engine, it develops 150 PS at 5,500 rpm and 203 Nm of torque between 1,600-5,000 rpm. It comes paired to a CVT with 7-stepped ratios. Other engine options include a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter i-VTEC unit, and a 1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel engine for the European market.
At the moment, Honda Cars India have no plans to re-introduce the Honda Civic in India, thus leaving a large gap between the Honda City and the soon-to-be-announced 2016 Honda Accord.
