Will feature an evolutionary styling.

Following spyshots of the 2016 Audi Q5 test mules, French publication Auto Moto has come up with a render of the all-new second generation model, which draws design cues from the larger Audi Q7.

The front-end of the 2016 Audi Q5 is expected to get an angular grille similar to the Audi Q7, larger intakes in the lower fascia, and Matrix LED headlamps.

Judging by spyshots and the rendering, Audi will keep the basic design formula intact, whilst introducing new design elements to lend a fresh new face. The front-end is expected to get an angular grille similar to the Audi Q7, larger intakes in the lower fascia, and Matrix LED headlamps. The rear end will get updated LED taillamps, and a re-profiled bumper with new exhaust tips.

The interior will likely follow the new simplistic design trend seen in the 2015 Audi Q7 and 2016 Audi A4. The Virtual Cockpit instrument display with full-screen navigation could be offered as an optional feature, while the latest Audi MMI infotainment system will be equipped as standard. The next generation Audi Q5 could also get a stubby gear selector, new steering wheel, and a flowing dashboard design.

The 2016 Audi Q5 will be based on the MLB platform, which, reportedly, sheds 100 kg of weight from the current Q5, thanks to the extensive use of aluminum and high strength steel. Under the hood, the next Q5 could source its engines from the 2016 Audi A4, which include a new range of four-cylinder and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The Quattro AWD system will certainly be offered in higher trims, while an e-tron plug-in hybrid is also considered.
