V6-Powered AMG Sport variant to be slotted below the full-fledged AMG variant.
According to Autocar India, Mercedes-Benz India is planning on launching the Mercedes C 450 AMG Sport variant, which will sit under the V8-powered Mercedes C63 AMG (confirmed for India) and above the CLA 45 AMG in Mercedes' performance range.
The Mercedes C 450 AMG Sport variant made its debut at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show (2015 NAIAS), which tries to combine the ferocity of a full-fledged Mercedes-AMG model with the poise of a standard Mercedes-Benz. It hits the sweet spot for customers who cannot shell out the large sum for a C63 AMG, but want to own a performance-oriented C Class.
Power is sourced from an uprated version of the twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 petrol, which delivers 367 hp and 520 Nm of maximum torque. It is paired to a 7G-TRONIC automatic gearbox, which routes the power to all four wheels via a 4MATIC AWD system. This enables the C 450 AMG Sport to sprint from 0-96 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, and maxes out at a limited top speed of 250 km/h.

The Mercedes C 450 AMG Sport will be sold as a niche product, and is likely to be brought into India via the CBU route. When launched, it will be the only such model in its segment, given that BMW's only petrol 3-Series offering is the range-topping BMW M3, while Audi discontinued the Audi S4 3.0 TFSI.
