The Kwid’s 800 cc petrol engine will reportedly produce 57 bhp.

Based on the all-new CMF-A platform, the Kwid measures 3.68 meters in length and 1.58 meters in width. When launched it will compete against the likes of the Maruti Alto 800 and the Hyundai Eon, and will attract the first time buyer.

Renault has announced that the Kwid will be powered by an all-new 0.8-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with “best-in-class” fuel efficiency. This all-new petrol engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) is also in the offing. According to reports, this unit will deliver a class-leading power output of 57 bhp.

While Renault could introduce a more powerful 1.0-liter variant on the Kwid later on its lifecycle, the French car major ruled out a diesel variant for the small car.
