Diesel variant ruled out for the Kwid.
Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Charan Kumar snapped the Renault Kwid - Renault India's entry-level small car - on test near Bengaluru recently. Unveiled last month, the Kwid is announced to launch in India in the festive season period (September-November) with prices between INR 3-4 lakhs.
Renault India have not released detailed specifications of the Kwid. The French car maker announced that it will be powered by a newly-developed, albeit "simple", 0.8-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, which is reported to produce about 57 bhp. This engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual and automated manual transmission, and could be joined later by a more powerful 1.0-liter unit as well. However, Renault ruled out a diesel variant for the Kwid.
The small car is claimed to deliver "class-leading" fuel efficiency, though the ARAI-rated test results are yet to be announced. It will however come with front power windows, foglights, a 7-inch touchscreen Media-NAV system, a digital instrument cluster and optional driver-side airbag.
