Reported to be powered by Hero's self-developed engine.
India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero Motocorp, will soon introduce a new scooter to rival the segment supremo, the Honda Activa. The forthcoming Hero scooter, which was unveiled in January 2014 as the Hero Dash, has reportedly entered production at Hero's Gurgaon plant. These spyshots show the production-ready scooter on test, indicating that a launch is just around the corner.
The highlight of the new scooter is that it will be powered an all-new 111 cc single-cylinder engine producing about 8.5 bhp. Unlike the Hero Maestro which uses a Honda-sourced engine (Hero Motocorp pays royalty to Honda for using its technologies), Hero's new scooters starting with the Dash will use its self-developed engine.
The Dash will likely launch in two variants - LX and VX. On the top-end VX trim, the scooter will get alloy wheels, a silencer cover and a USB port for charging mobile phones. Other features that will be seen on the Dash include a part-digital instrument cluster, a service reminder, an external fuel lid, under-seat storage light, LED taillight and a telescopic front suspension.
