Most likely imported for R&D testing.
From outside Honda's manufacturing plant in in Tapukara, Rajasthan, several spyshots of a Euro-spec ninth generation Honda Civic hatchback has surfaced, courtesy of Gaadiwaadi. At the moment, Honda has no plans of re-introducing the Civic in India, so the unit pictured is most likely brought to India for global R&D testing.
Last November, we reported that Honda had imported a left hand drive Civic diesel into the country for R&D purposes. Yet the company had reaffirmed that they will not re-introduce the Civic for now, and instead focus on the launch of the Honda Jazz.
Honda Cars India discontinued the Civic nameplate in 2012 owing to poor sales. The reasons behind the poor sales were that the sedan did not offer a diesel option. With Honda aggressively trying to snatch market share from top players by focusing on volume segments in India, it's unlikely that we will see the re-launch of Honda's Civic anytime soon, either as a hatchback or a sedan.

Instead, Honda India will relaunch the Jazz hatchback in July and the Accord sedan at the 2016 Auto Expo, accompanied by a seven-seat crossover.
