To be launched next year.

The successor of the highly revered Bugatti Veyron is in the works, which will feature a new design, better materials and more power (of course!), enabling it to reach record-breaking top speeds.

The Bugatti Chiron is expected to feature a radical design that is aero-efficient and also represents an evolution over the aged design of the Veyron.

Although the name hasn’t been confirmed, the internet seems to have christened it “Bugatti Chiron,” paying homage to one of Bugatti’s racing drivers, Louis Chiron.

According to the many renders that float around the web, the Bugatti Chiron is expected to feature a radical design that is aero-efficient and also represents an evolution over the aged design of the Veyron. The interior will also be uplifted to offer clients the best in hypercar luxury, with respect to trim materials, leather upholstery and design.

A report said that the Bugatti Chiron would be able to reach a top speed of 463 km/h.

One of the main talking points of any Bugatti is the power plant. At the VAG night in Shanghai, Bugatti partially confirmed that the 8.0-liter W16 engine will be retained in the Chiron. It will, however, be tuned to produce no less than 1500 hp, thanks to upgraded tech and components, says reports.

With a revised W16 engine engine and aerodynamic body work, the Chiron is capable of reaching speeds faster than the record-holding Veyron SuperSport. Reports speculate that it can touch a maximum speed of 463 km/h.

Since Bugatti is a niche manufacturer that caters to the super wealthy, the Chiron is expected to be priced accordingly, which could be over USD 2.5 million (INR 15.88 crore). As far as launch is concerned, the initial units of the Bugatti Chiron could be delivered in 2016.

Can’t wait till Nissan starts production on their 2018 Nissan GTR… Under the hood, will be a 12.4…. Two V6’s put together with 4 Turbos….. And half the price. It’s supposed to be the fastest car ever made….. THAT’S what I’m whiting for….. Bugatti got there work cut out…. Nissan GTR 12.4 vs Bugatti 16.4… My money’s on 12.4….

Not as attractive and likely to loose the speed record faster, if it even gets it at all. They have to start thinking about efficiency if for no other reason than to reduce the need for so much cooling and therefore reduce drag.

Also, some drivers might want to go further than 50 miles @ 200mph+.

I predict a 300mph electric production car in less than 2 years. It could be built now; Siemens has developed a new electric motor for aircraft: EMRAX 348T, which can deliver 600 kW, torque 2400 Nm, weight 70 kg, dimensions: dia 348 mm length 170 mm. 4 in a car, and it is going to move! 2.4 MW of power. Add some state of the art, or even research batteries, and it will really fly. Probably a third the cost…unless they get really greedy on those motors. And it might get to 300 in less than 20 seconds.
