7-seat Tiguan to be sold in India.
AutoBild Romania has a rendering of the forthcoming 2016 VW Tiguan on the cover of their latest issue. The second generation of VW's popular compact SUV is reported to make its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year.
The first full model changeover sees the Tiguan moving to VW's flexible MQB platform. The standard wheelbase will accommodate two rows of seats (5-seater) while a new long wheelbase model will be introduced with an additional row of seats (7-seater), and will primarily target American, Chinese and the Indian market.
Power for the 2016 Tiguan will come from four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines paired to manual and DSG transmissions. While entry-level variants will be front-wheel drive, VW's 4MOTION all-wheel drive system will be offered on a majority of variants.
Reports state that while the new Tiguan will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the 7-seat long wheelbase version will premiere at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2016.
