Could get a new entry-level four-cylinder diesel engine.
Following a facelift for the smaller Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota will soon introduce a facelift for the larger Land Cruiser LC200. Instagram user Hamad1two3 has uploaded the first images of the 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser (facelift), which according to a previous report will launch in August this year in international markets.
The front fascia gets an all-new design with new headlight clusters, a larger 'wing-shape' grille and a new bumper with redesigned foglight enclosures. The new headlights would step up to LED illumination and also get LED daytime running lights.
While an image of the rear is unavailable, the design of the taillight clusters seem mildly altered, and also get LED elements for the stoplights. Based on a leaked document, it appears that Toyota designers have made changes throughout the SUV save for the doors, windows and rear panels.
Inside, the 2016 Land Cruiser will get an all-new center console with a larger entertainment screen and buttons that are better recessed on the console. A new white-on-black instrument cluster is also part of the update.
The 2016 Land Cruiser is bound to receive mechanical changes as well given that it has not seen updates in a while. Reports are suggestive of a 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel unit, which could be part of the new 'GD' engine family. For the Indian market, Toyota sells the Land Cruiser with a 4.5-liter V8 diesel engine paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The facelifted Land Cruiser would be one among the many launches Toyota has in store for the Indian market in 2016, apart from the new Innova and Fortuner.
