Expected to premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year.
AutoForum has rendered the front and rear fascias of the next generation 2016 BMW 7 Series, which is expected to premiere at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show come September. The renderings are based on leaked images of the new 7-er, and hence provide an accurate look at the design of the S Class-rival.
Based on an all-new platform (codenamed '35up'), the forthcoming 7 Series is confirmed to have lost 130 kg thanks to use of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the passenger cell structure and new generation engines.
BMW has confirmed an all-new in-line six-cylinder petrol engine with its TwinPower Turbo technology for the G11 7 Series (the long wheelbase 7 Series is codenamed G12). All engines will be paired to a re-tuned 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear, or all-wheels in case of the xDrive variant.
Among the many toys the 2016 7 Series will be equipped with, the remote-controlled parking feature is bound to a major highlight. With this, the luxury sedan can enter and exit parking spaces and garages without anyone at the wheel.
