Anjan Ravi, I'm a true-blooded petrolhead. Hope you enjoy our news stories, launch coverages, motorshow coverages and test drive reports.
Expected to premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year.
AutoForum has rendered the front and rear fascias of the next generation 2016 BMW 7 Series, which is expected to premiere at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show come September. The renderings are based on leaked images of the new 7-er, and hence provide an accurate look at the design of the S Class-rival.
Based on an all-new platform (codenamed ’35up’), the forthcoming 7 Series is confirmed to have lost 130 kg thanks to use of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the passenger cell structure and new generation engines.
BMW has confirmed an all-new in-line six-cylinder petrol engine with its TwinPower Turbo technology for the G11 7 Series (the long wheelbase 7 Series is codenamed G12). All engines will be paired to a re-tuned 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear, or all-wheels in case of the xDrive variant.
Among the many toys the 2016 7 Series will be equipped with, the remote-controlled parking feature is bound to a major highlight. With this, the luxury sedan can enter and exit parking spaces and garages without anyone at the wheel.
Post its launch in Europe this year, the next generation 7 Series will launch in India sometime next year. BMW India assembles the sedan at its Chennai plant, but has recently increased localization levels.
