Significant front and rear cosmetic changes with new alloys observed.
Latest spy pictures of the facelifted third-generation Mitsubishi Outlander have shown up ahead of its reported unveiling next month in Japan and global debut at New York Auto Show on April 1. The production-ready Outlanders were snapped undisguised while waiting for shipment at a Japanese port.
Hindustan Motor Finance Corp (HMFCL), which deals with sales and service of Mitsubishi products in India, is planning to launch the petrol variant of the Outlander later this year, while a diesel variant will follow next year, a local report said last month.
The images reveal significant exterior upgrades to the car. Full-fledged taillight units featuring red graphics with chrome feeding and redesigned bumper hosting fog lights dominate the rear.
While the front view wasn’t any obvious with the spyshots, it appears that the design is inspired from the Outlander PHEV Concept-S with the prominent chrome treatment and sharp-edged headlight designs. The eccentrically-angled, diamond-cut alloys is also new.
Though there are no snaps on the interiors, new dashboard trims and a touchscreen infotainment system are on the cards. Apart from a plug-in hybrid system the company is working on, the Outlander facelift is expected to be powered by 2.0- and 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engines.
