Will launch along with the new Pulsars.
The last time that Bajaj Auto updated the avenger was back in 2010, when the updated 220 cc engine from the Pulsar 220F was introduced on the cruiser. Since then, the company has been rolling out exactly the same model with no changes and it still has been doing decently well for the company, selling around 3,000 units every month, with almost invisible marketing and promotional efforts.

The unchanged formula for success is expected to get an update before the end of June, as Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto, told CNBC-TV18 that the company's six launches planned for the first half of the year could "possibly" include a new Avenger, alongside the new Pulsars.
While Bajaj did not speak about the motorcycle in depth, the updated version could have aesthetic upgrades as well as engine upgrades.
While the Avenger may see a downgrade in it's engine capacity from the current 220 cc single-cylinder mill, to the Pulsar 200 NS' 200 cc mill, there would actually be a significant upgrade in to power output of the cruiser, since the 220 cc engine produces a mere 18.7 bhp versus the 23.5 bhp of the Pulsar 200 NS.

The company would of course have to change the state of tune of the engine in accordance to a cruiser's character.
