Launch will reportedly take place in the festive season (October-November period) of this year.
Hyundai's much awaited model for 2015, the ix25 compact SUV, was spotted testing by IAB reader, Jishnu, in Chennai.
The ix25 in China measures 4.27 meters in length, putting it in the segment that includes the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. Top variants are expected to feature LED DRLs with projector headlamps, and large 16 inch 5-spoke alloy rims (seen in the spyshot).
Under the hood, the ix25 would come with an engine lineup that may include engines sourced from the Verna: a 105.5 bhp 1.4 liter VTVT petrol and an 88.7 bhp 1.4 liter U2 diesel engine could form the base variants. More powerful versions would use the 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines. It's unclear whether Hyundai will offer an AWD option for the ix25, given that its closest rival, the Duster, now comes with an AWD option.
