Rugged i20 Active world debuts in India.
According to a report on Gaadi, Hyundai will introduce the i20 Active on March 17. Hyundai confirmed yesterday that it would launch the car in March, but did not share specifics.
The Hyundai i20 Active is a crossover-version of the well-received Elite i20 which was launched last year. Designed at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe in Rüsselsheim, Germany, the company calls it an "SUV looking car".
While the chassis, and the glass and steel body panels of both cars are shared, the Active i20 has SUV-like styling with a new bumper, large circular foglamps, projector headlamp with LED DRLs and and silver plastic skidpad.
Moving to the side, the increase in ground clearance and addition of skirting is evident, and as are new alloy wheels and prominent roof rails.
At the rear, a bigger spoiler, new bumper, corresponding large reflectors, silver skid plate and a shark fin antenna give the Cross-version a different look. Spyshots show that the company is not using the "Elite" badge or the traditional small-car variant nomenclature, instead opting for a Verna-like 'SX' name.
