Will be sold only with FWD, and launches in Summer 2015.
The production version of the Honda HR-V compact SUV has been announced for the European market. The HR-V prototype was shown at the Paris Motor Show last October with the intention of a 2015 launch.
The European-spec HR-V sees the introduction of a diesel engine in the compact SUV for the first time. The company has announced its 1.6-liter four-cylinder i-DTEC diesel engine capable of 120 PS, and a 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol engine good for 130 PS, for the vehicle.
Both engines will come equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, with the petrol optionally getting a CVT unit. To begin with, the HR-V will be sold as a front wheel drive only model in the Europe.
Safety features on the HR-V include Intelligent Speed Assist, City Brake Active Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition system, and a High-beam Support System. A Honda Connect system with Android 4.0.4 with MirrorLink, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI and USB will be seen on the crossover.
As reported earlier, the HR-V/Vezel is unlikely to launch in the Indian market. Instead, Honda plans on tackling this segment with a Brio-based compact SUV which is reportedly under development.
