General Motors India today announced that it will launch the Trailblazer SUV in 2015. The news was first shared with GM India's dealers in an annual meeting in Bangkok on February 13. Prior to that, GM India showcased the SUV at the Auto Expo last year.
In the Thai market, where the Trailblazer is available with diesel engines, GM offers a choice of two motors - a 2.5-liter inline diesel engine capable of 163 hp at 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm and a 2.8-liter inline diesel producing 200 hp at 3,600 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.
The former is available with a 6-speed manual, while the 2.8-liter engine gets a 6-speed automatic transmission. Base variants offer 2WD, but the 2.8-liter top-end variant comes with a 4WD system.
At 4,878 mm in length, 1,902 mm in width, 1,838 mm in height, the Trailblazer has a wheelbase of 2,845 mm. The three-row 7-seat SUV offers ground clearance of up to 241 mm and comes with 16- or 18-inch alloy wheels.
Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear disc brakes, TCS, Cornering Brake Control, ESC, Hill start assist and hill descent control are some of the safety features seen on the vehicle.
GM India is yet to confirm whether the Trailblazer will launch as a CBU or a CKD.
