Chevrolet showcased the TrailBlazer SUV at the Auto Expo 2014, even though the company has no immediate plans of launching the model in India. The model is sold in countries like Thailand, Brazil and South Africa to compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Isuzu MU-X. The model shown at the expo was a 2.8-liter AT variant.
The TrailBlazer is available with two diesel and one petrol engine options. First up is a 2.5-liter version (with 148 hp and 350 Nm) that is available only as a 4X2 variant with a five-speed manual transmission. The 2.8-liter variant comes in both 4X2 and 4X4 configurations. While the 4X4 is available both in manual and automatic, the 4X2 gets only an AT variant.
Other than these two, there’s a 3.6-liter petrol-only variant that comes only all-wheel drive + AT configuration.
On the 2.8L 4X2 AT variant, the TrailBlazer makes 177 hp and peak torque of 470 Nm, mated to a six-speed transmission. The 4X4 variant gets both an MT and an AT. While the engine in the five-speed MT makes the same 177 hp, it gets a peak torque of 440 Nm. The 4X4 in its 6-speed AT with manual shift mode guise gets 177 hp and peak torque of 470 Nm.
Finally, the petrol 3.6-liter V6 4X4 with the 6-speed automatic gearbox gets 236 hp and peak torque of 329 Nm.
All models get independent suspension link assembly at the front and 5-link with coil spring at the rear.
