First car in India to get Laser headlights.
Audi was earlier in the race to launch the first ever production car with laser headlamps. While the BMW i8 might have pipped the victory on the global stage, Audi appears to take the lead in India though. Priced at INR 2.97 crore, ex-Showroom Mumbai/Delhi, the Audi R8 LMX is launched in the country, ahead of the BMW i8, which is expected next month.
Limited to 99 vehicles globally, the Audi R8 LMX is the most powerful series production R8 in the lineup with 570 hp of maximum power and 540 Nm of maximum torque being churned out of the 5.2-litre V10 engine. 0-100 km/h takes only 3.4 seconds while it can achieve a top-speed of 320 km/h. A 7-speed S-tronic gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive system are standard affairs.
On the outside, apart from the new laser high beam headlamps, the R8 LMX features a fixed rear spoiler, and comes in an exclusive Ara Blue paint. The interior gets its dose of carbon fibre, Nappa leather, and Alcantara. The vehicle comes with a limited edition number, stitching and accents in Ara Blue and Sepang Blue colours.

The much talked about laser headlamps are activated at 60 km/h onward, offer greater visibility than conventional units, and has twice the range in comparison to the all LED headlamps. Each headlamp gets one laser module, which contains four laser diodes. It emits white light (5,500 Kelvin), has the ability to detect oncoming traffic and adjust its light pattern so as to not blind other road users.
