All three variants show fuel efficiency improvements.
IndianHoods.com is reporting that the 2015 Maruti Swift Dzire (facelift) that will be announced on February 25, is India's most fuel efficient car, with an ARAI certified mileage of 26.59 km/l, beating title holder Ciaz that comes with 26.2 km/l.
As per the leaked brochure, the Dzire retains the same engines. However the 1.2L petrol engine gets a downward power output revision producing 84.3 PS at 6,000 rpm (compared to 87 PS at 6,200 rpm of the current model) and a higher 115 Nm (compared to 114 Nm) of torque at 4,000 rpm. It returns an improved mileage of 20.85 km/l (compared to 19.1 km/l of the outgoing version).
The Dzire diesel meanwhile delivers an identical 75 PS at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm at 2,000 rpm. It returns an industry-leading fuel efficiency of 26.59 km/l (up from 23.4 km/l). A 5-speed manual transmission is standard on all variants, however petrol car buyers can optionally get the 4-speed automatic which returns a mileage of 18.5 km/l (up from 17.4 km/l), available "on a pre-booking basis".
Maruti improved the Swift's fuel economy last year by tweaking the injection system, ECU mapping and switching the engine oil, and these measures are likely to be behind the Dzire's performance improvement.
The Dzire facelift also gets cosmetic and feature additions. These include new bumpers, wheel, grille, headlamp and body colours, as well as a push-button start, Bluetooth telephony, electrically folding mirrors, keyless entry and rear power socket (on the top-end 'Z' variants).
