If identified problem is not rectified, it could cause engine damage or seizure.
Going by reports, Yamaha has issued a recall for its Alpha scooter in India over a faulty engine cylinder head o-ring. The faulty o-ring that had been installed during assembly, results in an oil leak from the head.
While this issue doesn't pose any risk of an accident or injury to the rider, if the leakage isn't inspected on time, the engine would run out of oil more quickly, resulting in internal damage or even a complete engine failure.
According to one of the members over at TeamBHP, Yamaha India is in the process of contacting customers affected by the issue. As of now, there has been no official statement from the Japanese manufacturer regarding this issue. Affected customers would get a replaced cylinder head o-ring free of cost from their contacted dealership within a period of three hours.

The Yamaha Alpha scooter sports a 113 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that puts out 7.1 bhp of power and 8.1 Nm of torque translated to the road via an automatic gearbox. Fuel is delivered via a carburettor and the ignition is controlled via a CDI. The scooter rides on 90/100 -10 section tyres both front and rear and uses 130 mm drum brakes for both the wheels.
