Unlikely to be launched in India.

A camouflaged Toyota Rush is being driven in the state of Maharashtra, and unlike most such test vehicles, this one is not headed to the market. It has once again been spotted by reader of Motoroids.

It’s not the first time the Rush has been spotted testing in India during the last month.

The Rush is near the end of its lifecycle, so it doesn’t make sense for Toyota to launch the vehicle so late in India. However it appears interesting for the market because of its dimensions: 4,420 mm long, 1,745 mm wide, and 1,740 mm high – all of which pit it against the Renault Duster.

Currently available in some Asian countries also badged as the Daihatsu Terios, it’s powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 107.5 hp of power and 141.2 Nm of torque. A petrol engine won’t make as much sense in a market like India, but its 200 mm of ground clearance and 5+2 seating capacity (the third row is optional) would.

As mentioned earlier, the vehicle is still running on MH14 number plates, which could be a sign that Tata Motors is evaluating the vehicle to benchmark or test components of its upcoming product, the Nexon compact SUV.

Do not launch the above Rush model, because the design is very lame as compared to Renault Duster, Ford Ecosport & the upcoming Hyundai ix25.
