New Honda Jazz’s production starts in India – Report

Shares platforms with the new Honda City.

According to GaadiWaadi, production of the new Honda Jazz has already started at Honda Cars India’s (HCI) plant in Rajasthan. The website reports that around 600 vehicles have been manufactured, and that a launch is expected around March 2015.

The Jazz in India will get a 1.2L petrol and a 1.5L diesel engine.

It is indeed logical for HCI to make the new Jazz at its Rajasthan plant as production of the City also takes place here, and the Jazz and City (based on the same platform) are expected to share several components.

Like the City, the Jazz diesel will be powered by the 1.5-liter four-cylinder i-DTEC diesel engine which has 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque. Unlike the City though, the Jazz will not get the larger and more powerful 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol unit. Honda will instead use their 1.2-liter petrol engine (which allows the Jazz to be classified as a ‘small car’ by Indian standards), which makes 88 PS and 109 Nm of torque.

  1. Hello! No, its based on the City. Amaze and Brio platform doesn’t have connection to the City or the Jazz.

Anjan…based on the import records from Zauba.com, Honda has imported CVT for 1.5 L for Captive consumption for Honda Jazz. So Jazz with a 1.5 L + CVT is not an impossibility.

This is not the Honda we all know. This is the new aggressive honda which is riding on its newly found 1.5 diesel engine. Though the 1.5 diesel is not the best in class & only as good as the one found in first gen verna which Hyundai stopped producing bcz they found their next gen 1.4 & 1.6VGTs way better. Undoubtedly new Hondas are stylish & cheaper but the quality of platics used & so isn’t as good as it used be. But who cares its the name which sells. Honda is Honda after all.
