New XF to be based on aluminium intensive iQ platform.
Ahead of a reported unveiling at the New York Auto Show in April, the next generation Jaguar XF was spotted in France by a reader of AutoPlus.
Just like the XE entry-level sedan, the new XF will also be based on the lightweight, aluminium intensive, iQ architecture. This platform will also spawn the F-Pace SUV due for a 2016 launch.
Codenamed X260, the new XF will also be sold in a long wheelbase version for the Chinese market, where it will rival German executive sedans like the 5 Series L, the E Class L and the A6 L.
Engine options are expected to start from 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol and diesels and extend to six-cylinder units. Jaguar Land Rover's new Ingenium range of fuel efficient motors (which debut on the XE) will be offered on the XF as well. The performance oriented XF-R would source its power from the acclaimed 5.0-liter supercharged V8.
Inside, the new XF is reported to feature additional rear legroom and headroom, the latter being a touch on the tighter side on the current generation model. Jaguar's new InCar touchscreen infotainment system will also be a part of the equipment list on the sedan and estate.
