Expected to be revealed in Q3 2015.
Having launched the current model in early 2010, Ford would have to be working on the next generation of the Ford Taurus, if it plans to keep the nameplate running. Thus far however, a very few details have emerged on the full-size sedan.
Thanks to Chinese website Auto Sohu, here are the first spyshots of a cammo-wrapped prototype, giving us a basic insight of what we can expect in the future. By the looks of it, the next gen Taurus will look more like an oversized Fusion/Mondeo, sporting the familiar Aston Martin-esque grille found throughout the range.
It will sit on a larger derivative of the Ford CD4 platform that also underpins the mid-size Mondeo. The new platform is lighter than the outgoing one, allowing Ford to keep the weight in check.
Under the hood, it is expected to be powered by a range of EcoBoost engines, with the 2-liter twin-scroll turbo engine, a strong candidate. It will only be available with an automatic transmission paired to a rotary dial gear selector, similar to Jaguar's design.
