Feature-packed compact SUV that will rival the Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport.
The Hyundai ix25 based compact SUV that will launch in India next year (most likely in the second half of 2015) is codenamed 'GS', sources told the Economic Times.
As the ix25 is the first compact SUV for the brand in India, Hyundai is betting big for the model as it targets a competitive price, and correspondingly, plans 90 percent localization for the vehicle. The Korean car maker has put in INR 1,000 crores to develop the car, the same sources told the publication.
First revealed in a pre-production concept form at the Beijing Auto Show this year, the ix25 has started sales in China where it is offered with 1.6- and 2.0-liter engines, with manual and automatic transmissions and the option of front wheel drive and all wheel drive.
The ix25 in China is feature-packed with equipment like projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and folding wing mirrors, automatic climate control, steering mounted controls, cruise control, a raft of safety features like airbags, ABS, EBD, TCS, and electric adjustment for the front seats.

The ix25 and the Elite i20 Cross will be two new launches for Hyundai in India next year. Then in 2016, an MPV rivaling the likes of the Honda Mobilio and Maruti Ertiga will follow suit. All products target localization levels of 90 percent.
