Late 2015 or early 2016 launch expected.
Mammoth of an SUV that the Mercedes Benz GL is, will soon get a new name, a slightly new design, and updated interior. To be called as the GLS (thanks to Merc's new nomenclature), the vehicle is going to be a GL facelift but with a different moniker.
A report by CarAdvice says that while the overall design is going to remain largely unchanged, it's the details that the facelift covers. Starting with front end which is expected to get a more aggressive look with an upright grille, more rounded headlamps, and a new bonnet. The bumper design is said to undergo minor design changes, too.
The silhouette remains the same, while at the rear, the GLS will get redesigned taillamp cluster, an updated bumper and exhaust muffler design. On the inside, the vehicle will get a refreshed cabin, most likely with a new 8-inch COMAND system. Mercedes will take care of the mechanical bits too, in order to ensure that customers don't write the new vehicle off by calling it a mere skin-deep job. Hence it won't be wrong to expect new engines (or updated ones, at least) in the line-up, suggests the report.
