Expected to launch in early 2015.
The Tata Bolt hatchback which was expected to be launched soon after the Zest, continues its testing program. A camouflaged mule was spotted by Motorbeam's reader Mr. Rishath Suresh in Chennai recently.
The Bolt premiered publicly alongside the Zest at the Auto Expo 2014 and is expected to touch down early next year. Like its sedan sibling, the Bolt is based on a heavily revised Vista/Manza platform.
The hatchback impersonates the Zest's exterior and interior design as well. Salient features include projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights on the top-end variants that are not offered by the competition.
Going by previous spyshots, a contrast orange insert on the dashboard could be found on select variants. The interior is equipped with a Harman audio system with touchscreen display and steering mounted controls, and touch-enabled controls for the automatic AC.
Coming to the powertrains, the 1.2-litre Revotron turbo petrol which debuted on the Zest will be available. The motor produces 85 PS (83.8 bhp) and 140 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The volume-churning 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel engine developing 75 PS (73.94 bhp) and 190 Nm of torque will come mated to a 5-speed manual but an AMT could also be available.
