The Ciaz has received over 17,000 bookings.
Maruti-Suzuki, the country's largest carmaker, certainly have the reason to cheer this festive season. The company's newly launched Ciaz, registered a sale of 6,345 units in October 2014, which happens to be its launch month. The Ciaz outsold its main rival, the Honda City as Honda Cars India reported sales of 5,120 units for the City last month.
It must be mentioned that new cars generally report strong sales in the first 6-12 months, and the impact of the Ciaz on the mid-size sedan segment can be fully determined only when Maruti have completed deliveries to customers who pre-ordered it. At the moment, Maruti says it has 17,000 bookings for the Ciaz.
Honda Cars India said in a statement that beginning November 2014, production at its second plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan, would start a second shift of operations, thereby ensuring improved availability of the City.

The Ciaz is priced from INR 6.99 lakhs to INR 9.34 lakhs for the petrol variants, and between INR 8.04 lakhs to INR 9.8 lakhs for the diesel models. In comparison, the City petrol's price ranges between INR 7.19 lakhs to INR 10.96 lakhs, and the diesel between INR 8.37 lakhs to INR 11.05 lakhs. All prices are ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
