The Cross gets projector headlights and LED DRLs among other features.
Hyundai India is working on a 'crossover' variant of the recently launched Elite i20. Test mules have been spotted on multiple occasions with features like skid plates, side body molding, petal-shaped alloy wheels, projector headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights and roof rails.
Keeping these feature additions in mind, our artist, Shoeb, has created this digital mockup of the Elite i20 Cross, which could hit showrooms as early as end of this year.
Similar to cars like the Toyota Etios Cross and VW Cross Polo, the Elite i20 Cross would offer the core values of the car its based on (the Elite i20 offers good build quality, cabin space and an extensive feature list) but with a more rugged styling and feature additions.
The Elite Cross could also serve as an offering for those who don't want the bulky size of the ix25 compact SUV (which launches in India next year), yet desire a hatchback with more appeal.

The Elite Cross is likely to use the same 1.2-liter petrol engine and 1.4-liter diesel engine from the Elite. The petrol engine makes 83 PS (81.83 bhp) and 114.7 Nm of torque and gets a 5-speed manual transmission, whereas the diesel produces 90 PS (88.73 bhp) and 220 Nm of torque and uses a 6-speed gearbox.
