The 5.1m long, two-door concept was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

A concept car’s mobility is usually limited to moving a few feet on to the stage of an auto show, but what if they all were ready to be driven around? These days a few of them are, and the Audi Prologue concept is one of them.

Audi’s star at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show was recently taken out to the streets for a quick drive by German magazine AutoBild.

Audi’s design chief Marc Lichte had confirmed that the Prologue concept will influence future models from the company. At 5.1 m length and 1.95 m width, the Prologue is of a considerable size, emphasized by the two pillarless doors on the car. The new Singleframe grille, the sharp wedge-like headlamps with Matrix laser tech, and the 22-inch Y-shaped wheels give it a lot of character, and are likely to descent into the next gen Audi A8.

On the inside, it’s fairly simple but futuristic, with a touchscreen and display panels embedded into the central tunnel and dashboard respectively. According to Audi, the interior resembles a luxurious yacht.

Powering the car is a 4-litre V8 TFSI engine that makes 605 bhp of maximum power and 700 Nm of torque. Being an Audi, it comes with the Quattro AWD system, and can do 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. That, for a car which weighs just 20 kg short of 2 tonnes, is very impressive.

Good one. This should come out as A8 and challenge the S class. No point bringing A9. Things will get too crowded.
